TLC's "While You Were Out" transformed edi!
Near the end of winter, we submitted our conference room and reception area to the BBC America/TLC
show, "While You Were Out".  After many, many flaming hoops to jump through, we made the final cut
and were selected for the show.  On June 1st, 2nd and 3rd, 2005, the cast and crew descended on our
small company and through the chaos and disasters, we emerged with a new look.  Kudos to Candi -she
carried on every bit of our day-to-day business as if there were no craziness going on, even keeping the
secret from Kevin who was on the road and CONSTANTLY calling in!  This was a feat of magic in and of
itself.  How she did it, I'll never know.

Cast and crew (about 20 additional people in all) took in stride the fact that we were a fully functional
office going about our business and in spite of the near impossible logistics, the demolition and
construction began.  Read on and see some of the show elements.
Good Neighbor and friend of edi, local artist Fred
Stonehouse, let the lovely Leslie Segrete set up her
sewing world in his studio, (which used to be part of
St. Augustine's school) shown here above the famous
truck that travels around the USA.

all was said and done...
Clinton Bestul worked hard up
in sewing world, helping Leslie
reupholster the settee for our
reception seating area.
Here's your reward, Clinton!
Evan proved just as handy &
twice as nice as he is good looking.

It must be a guy thing - everyone had
to compare guns with Jason!

Which brings us to the 'making of' and 'after' pictures. We only have a 'before' page for your viewing
pleasure - we've kept the secret this long, another couple of weeks won't hurt.  Visit us again after
the show airs on August 31st at 7:00 p.m. CST and we'll have updated photos for you to enjoy.  The
episode is titled, "Rousing Reception".
Cast and crew
were wonderful -
charming, fun
and very
creative...

Edie and Julie were the worker bees for the
renovation and worked closely with the cast and
the unsung, behind the scenes heroes: Neil, who
mysteriously knows what everyone is doing;
Liz,the glue of the show; Ryan the (shh!) sound
guy and the busy, busy cameramen; Brian, the
jack of all trades; Anne, who can do anything on
the spot; curt Kurt and last but not least - the
vision of Julian and Sara.  We made many
wonderful friendships, and the experience will be
treasured for a lifetime!
L-R:  Edie Bestul, Kevin Bestul, Chayse Dacoda, Evan Farmer, Leslie Segrete, Jason Cameron and Julie Woodall
St. Augustine's and edi marketing. The bells of the church made quite an impact on
the cast and crew, who weren't used to hearing them every day.  Father Tom had
the same problem with the ladies at the rectory as Candi did with the girls in our
office (too many handsome TV stars on site) and he came over to carpentry world
and good-naturedly scolded the WYWO carpenters for being such a distraction!
Cramped
quarters in the
old reception
area. Hardly
enough room for
one, much less
two office
workers!
Caterers everywhere!  Phones and faxes down! Projects with hot buttons! Computers on the fritz!
